Best VPN in India for 2025: I’ve been testing VPN in India for the past 5 years. In today’s video, I’m going to share with you the Best VPN in India for 2025 — based on real testing, data, and results.

I’ve made a lot of videos around VPNs, and after hands-on testing and shortlisting based on speed, privacy, audits, history, and many more parameters — I’ve compiled this list to help you choose the best one for your needs.

Indian VPN Law

Before we get into the list, there’s an important update you should be aware of — and that is the Indian VPN Law introduced in 2022.

According to this law, VPN providers with physical servers in India are required to store customer data like name and IP address. And honestly, if a VPN is storing that kind of data, what’s the point of privacy?

So we’ll be focusing on VPNs that do not have physical servers in India or use virtual servers, which are not bound by this law.

And yes, we’ve also tested which VPNs use virtual servers and how well they perform.

Note: Paid VPNs only

This video focuses on paid VPNs. If you’re looking for free VPNs, I’ve already covered that in a separate video — just check the “i” button above.

To quickly recap: the best free VPNs are Proton VPN, Windscribe, and ZoogVPN. Most others have either been banned or don’t work properly.

Top 8 Best VPN in India for 2025

8. Namecheap VPN (FastVPN)

Pros:

  • Very affordable – just $1/month
  • Decent UI, much improved from last year

Cons:

  • Slow speeds, lacks WireGuard
  • Works only with Netflix, other platforms fail
  • Basic feature set, no advanced tools
  • Jurisdiction: USA (not privacy-friendly)
  • No security audits
This is a white-label VPN using StackPath servers — the same provider used by IPVanish and StrongVPN.

Verdict:
Use it only for very basic usage, like unblocking websites. If you’re coming from free VPNs and want something better, this might be okay. But if you’re serious about privacy and speed, skip this.

7. CyberGhost VPN

Pros:

  • Audited in 2024
  • No-log policy
  • Based in Romania (14 Eyes)
  • Free 500 GB pCloud storage with any plan

Neutral:

  • Speeds are inconsistent – good at times, but dip during peak hours

Cons:

  • Works only with Netflix, doesn’t support Jio, Hotstar, or SonyLiv
  • Ad blocker doesn’t work well
  • Owned by Kape Technologies (since 2017)

Pricing:

  • 2 Years + 2 Months = ₹165/month or ₹4,620/year

Verdict:
Only consider it for the large server network (11,000+ servers in 100+ countries). Otherwise, for streaming or reliable speeds, look elsewhere.

6. Private Internet Access (PIA)

Pros:

  • Audited, no-log policy
  • Has Snooze feature
  • P2P + Port forwarding
  • Split tunneling on Mac
  • Free 500 GB pCloud storage

Cons:

  • Unreliable speeds
  • Streaming is limited to Netflix
  • Based in the USA (privacy concern)
  • Owned by Kape Technologies (acquired in 2019)

Pricing:

  • ₹5,800 for 40 months

Verdict:
Only worth it if you want torrenting, port forwarding, or a large server network. Otherwise, you can skip it.

Note on Kape Technologies & VPN Ownership

Quick info:
Kape Technologies, previously Crossrider, rebranded into a privacy-focused company after its adware/malware history. They now own:

CyberGhost

PIA

ExpressVPN (acquired in 2021)
They also own review sites like Wizcase and VPNMentor — so always verify VPN rankings, as the owners may promote their own products.

Similarly, J2 Global owns IPVanish, StrongVPN, CNET, PCMag, and Mashable. Always cross-check!

5. PrivateVPN

Pros:

  • No-log policy
  • Supports P2P, Port Forwarding
  • Has Stealth Mode for restricted regions
  • Offers Dynamic Dedicated IP
  • Has physical + virtual servers in India

Cons:

  • Below-average speeds
  • Very limited server network (~200)
  • Basic UI
  • 3-year plan only ($72)

Verdict:
Only get it if you need:

1. Torrenting & Port Forwarding

2. Obfuscation for China-like countries

3. Free Dedicated IP

4. Physical Indian servers (if privacy isn’t a concern)

4. Proton VPN (Paid Version)

Pros:

  • Good speed with 10 Gbps servers
  • WireGuard support
  • No-log policy, audited
  • Modern UI, Adblocker, P2P & Port Forwarding
  • Improved performance and reduced pricing

Cons:

  • Past IP logging incident (via ProtonMail, not VPN)
  • No RAM-only servers

Pricing:
$86 for 2 years (earlier it was $119)

Verdict:
Great privacy and great speed. If you want to torrent with port forwarding, ProtonVPN is a strong contender. The IP logging controversy was about ProtonMail but raised eyebrows. Still, ProtonVPN has improved a lot since then.

3. ExpressVPN

This year the pricing is around $80 for 12 months, which is still on the expensive side compared to other VPNs. But if you’re looking for reliable speed, strong privacy, excellent streaming, and overall trust, then ExpressVPN is still one of the top contenders for 2025.

Cons Summary:

  • Slightly expensive
  • Now owned by Kape Technologies (which owns multiple VPNs, so transparency concerns exist for some users)
  • No longer offers a long-term plan at discounted pricing like before

If budget is not a big issue, and you want a premium VPN experience, then ExpressVPN is a strong recommendation.

#2 – Surfshark VPN

This is one of the most balanced VPNs in the current market. Whether it’s streaming, speed, privacy, features, or pricing, Surfshark does well in almost all areas.

Pros:

  • Wireguard support with great speeds
  • Works with Netflix, Prime Video, Hotstar, SonyLiv, JioCinema etc.
  • Unlimited device support
  • Based in the Netherlands (privacy-friendly)
  • CleanWeb 2.0 – Ad, tracker, malware blocker
  • Dedicated IP and Static IP options
  • Nexus Technology for enhanced privacy
  • RAM-only servers
  • Bonus tools: Bypasser, MultiHop, IP Rotator
  • Great value: ₹177/month on a 2-year plan

Cons:

  • Support is good but not the best
  • Some advanced features are still in beta
  • Simple UI could be improved

Surfshark is the most value-packed VPN in 2025. It offers a solid combo of speed, privacy, and price.

#1 – NordVPN

NordVPN continues to improve year after year. Whether it’s speed, privacy, audits, or innovation, it leads in nearly every category.

Pros:

  • Fastest VPN in my tests with NordLynx
  • Excellent for streaming
  • Independently audited no-log policy
  • RAM-only + Colocated Servers
  • Based in Panama
  • Threat Protection that works without a VPN active
  • Tools like Dark Web Monitor, Meshnet, Split Tunneling
  • Obfuscated Servers, Double VPN, P2P support
  • Clean and easy-to-use interface
  • Working towards owning 100% of their server infrastructure

Cons:

  • Only 6 device connections per account
  • Pricing: around ₹295/month on 2-year plan
  • No unlimited device use like Surfshark

NordVPN is #1 because it’s the most balanced option for speed, privacy, features, and trust.

Final Thoughts

  • Best premium VPN: NordVPN
  • Best value for money: Surfshark
  • Best for streaming & speed: ExpressVPN
  • Budget pick: Namecheap (for basic unblocking)
